In 1893, Dr. Henri Moissan, a French chemist and later Nobel Prize winner, identified minute quantities of natural silicon carbide in the Diablo Canyon meteorite found in a remote area of Arizona.    In honor of Dr. Moissan, it was named moisannite.    Charles & Colvard created moissanite is a new category in the jewelry industry.
